The New Land, Gerald Hankinson attempts to combine faith

In his book, God In The New Land, Gerald Hankinson attempts to combine faith with non-belief. He does not subscribe to the “substance theory,” the idea that belief is needed for salvation. He also does not subscribe to the reductionist approach that says there is a God and no matter what we do, God will still save us. Instead, he thinks we have an open mind to the mysteries of the religion and that we can find God in each individual. This book might appeal to people who are agnostics.

God In The New Land teaches that all men are regenerate (the word translated as “to be made in the image of God”). Regeneration means being born again into the presence of God. In other words, we have been placed in Christ but are not under the law. Because we are regenerate, we have access to God's throne of grace and are positioned to receive His promises. As such, we are cleansed from our sin, whatever it may have been.

What about those who are not regenerate? They too have access to God's throne of mercy and find grace to help them through their time of trouble. Those who belong to the “infanted generation” have not heard the gospel. They are still in the darkness and God has placed His face in those who haven't experienced the light yet. When we are saved, we are given the grace of God to go to church and be found by Him. When we are unregenerate, we find ourselves lost.

For some, God might seem cold because He hides behind the shadow of death. For others, He might be cold because He doesn't speak to those who have committed the sin of murder. God might seem angry with us because we have strayed from the path by which He would have us find Him. It is not enough to just know where God is but we must find Him so that He can speak to us.

This is where Gerry H. Hicks offers a fresh look at the life of the regenerate. He shows how God uses the imperfect to draw us to Himself. He uses imperfect people to help guide us into life through His presence. It is no wonder that we call him “the regenerate person.”

Many people do not fully understand what it means to be regenerate. What many people find helpful is learning about the work of Gerry H. Hicks. Even if you don't fully understand every detail of his work, you will find that he offers a rich vision of the work of redemption. You can learn more about this on his website; you can also purchase a book written by him on this subject if you would prefer to read it without having to make any purchases.

You may even be drawn to some of his teachings. One of them is his explanation of the atonement. Although we may not understand all of the details of what he says, we can at least see why forgiveness is important. Most of us have at least one guilty pleasure; our guilty pleasure is our desire to do wrong.

In his explanation of the atonement, you will find that he describes the shedding of the sin off of Christ's body, as well as the fact that God has raised Him from the dead. We are left with just one thing; we need to find forgiveness. If we are able to forgive those who have committed sin against us, then we will be able to walk into God's presence and receive forgiveness for ourselves as well as others. This is what Gerry H. Hicks teaches in his book, The Gospel According to Gerry.
